Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday Wednesday 26th April
This was our second rehearsal, which OAPs were invited to. Before the show started, we had usual good luck from the production team and then we went straight on with the show. The old people really enjoyed it. We had people singing along in Blitz to the old war time tunes. Despite being our dress rehershal, the show went very well. The 60 people who watched the show really thought it was great and many said how much they enjoyed the show when they were leaving.
Thursday 27th April
This was our first main performance of 'Capers' 2000. Again, we started the show in the usual way backstage with a pre-show sing. Then we went straight on with the show, and it was fantastic. The audience were really great and made us feel very welcome. Many VIP's came to see this show, including the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Bexley. After the show they came back stage and spoke to the cast. Nigel Betts the Deputy Mayor started off the thanks. He said how great he thought the show was and said we looked as if we were all enjoying ourselves. The Deputy Mayoress, Hillary Betts spoke afterwards and she too said how much she enjoyed the show. The following imprtant guests also came backstage and congratulated us: Ron Meyer (a member from the original Ralph Reader Gangshow), Ron (from the Cambridge Gangshow), Pat Tidy (Our Local Guide County Commissioner), Brenda Millar (The Divisional Commissioner for Guides), and finally John Powell (a G.L.S.E. Child Protection Officer). They also praised the show and said how much they enjoyed it. Trevor Thomas concluded the thanks by saying how he liked the show, and how proud he was of us all.
Friday 28th April
Last night was our second show of 'Capers' 2000, and again it went very well. After the show our guests came backstage again to talk to the cats. Watching the show was Bill Gunn, a G.L.S.E. A.C.C. (International) and Phil Gunn who is the County Secretary and a Divisional Guide Commissioner. Bill said how much he enjoyed the show, and how he especially liked being kissed in Big Spender by Emma. Phil Gunn then also said how much she enjoyed and gave a special congratulation to the Guides.
Saturday 29th April.
This was the final night of 'Capers' 2000. It was hard to believe that the 15 weeks of preparation had passed so quickly and now the show was drawing to a close. The show started off well, and the cast were in high sprits, determined to make the show successful. From the moment we went out on the stage we knew that it would be. We had a fantastic audience who really made the show enjoyable. The show was great fun, and the cast put an enormous amount of energy in the show, it was excellent. After the show, our VIP's came backstage to speak to the cast. Tonight we had our local Labour MP, Nigel Beard. He said how professional he thought the show was and how much his wife & himself enjoyed the show. He then said that the Blues Brothers should come and join him in his cabinet. He concluded by saying that Britain had given the world many things, but one of the most important things which is often overlooked is Scouting, which helps young people all around the world. Geoff Amass our District Commissioner then thanked the cast. When he asked them if they would come back again next year, the cast all shouted yes. Then a present was given to Wendy Hopwood, our Costume Director for all the hard work, which she had put into the show. After the presentation, Ami, our Musician was presented with her 21st Birthday present from the cast. Capers 2000 was the show's 10th Birthday. Nigel Beard couldn't believe that every year the show gets better because he couldn't find thought with us. The Cast promised that the 10th anniversary show was going to be the best yet, and it most certainly was!! Well done to everyone who was involved in 'Capers' 2000.
