Capers 1999
Capers 1999 Programme Wednesday 7th April.
This was our second technical rehearsal, which OAPs were invited to. Before the show started, we had usual good luck from the producer Trevor Thomas and the Directors Kevin and Babbs. We were also told that the oldest person in the audience was 104! We went straight on with the show and the old people loved it. We had people singing along to lights of London, people dancing in giddy up and an old lady answering to Minney in Up Girls and at em'. It didn't seem like a dress rehearsal, it was a show.
Thursday 8th April
This was our first proper show. The producers started it off in the usual way. 5 minutes later we were on stage. Everything went really well and their wasn't problems at all. After the show our VIP's who were Ron Meyer (a man who was Ralph Readers business partner), Brenda Miller (Divisional Commissioner for Guides), Neil Mason (Dept. County Commissioner), Phil Gunn (County Secretary) and Bill Gunn (Dept. County Commissioner) all said how they enjoyed the show. Ron Mayer and Bill Gunn told us about their memories from when they did gangshows when they were young. Overall, the evening went very well.
Friday 9th April
This evening was an important night for the cast. The Mayor of Bexley was coming to see the show and the cast was determined to show him what they could really do. The cast did, the whole evening went really, really well, backed by a brilliant audience, and the cast performed an outstanding show. The mayor who had just got from the Isle of Wight at 6.45pm said how he really enjoyed the show. Also in the audience were representatives from Hastings and Chislehurst Gangshow, who said that the cast performed some sketches better than they did.
Saturday 10th April
The Final Night of 'Capers' 1999, backstage the cast we looking forward to their last show. The passed off well with a little miss hap from Darron Tough, who sung maybe it because I am a Londoner isn't of Wheelie Bin! After the show The D.C. Geoff Amass thanked the cast for all the hard work and asked them to come back again next year. After the thank you's the cast and the rest of the 'Capers' team took down all the lighting from the school, closed the dressing rooms and sweep the floors.
